Overview

This is the ancestral sake set of the Sho royal family. It is called BAJOHAI (cup for horse-riding) because its design enables to have a drink with one hand while riding on a horse. HIDARIMITSUDOMOEMON, the family emblem, and BOTANSHIPPOUTSUNAGIMONYOU (peony pattern and 4 different circles on all corners of a circle) were expressed on the cinnabar-lacquered with sunken gold. The center hole of the square footed board was designed to store the stands of the cup. It is considered to have been used as one of the decoration items at the castle.
