Overview

This is the ancestral sword of the Sho royal family. According to the Ryukyuan history book "KYUYO," the sword was gifted to the King Sho Shin from Nakasone Tuyumiya from Miyako Island in 1522. The outer finish and the blade of the sword were made in Japan. The blade is flat surfaced and does not have an inscription. The scabbard is coated with black lacquer. The hilt is coated with black lacquer and shagreen is attached to it. Auspicious cloud pattern is engraved on the knife handle.
