Overview

The surface of the tray features scroll and coolie hat patterns, and peony, plum blossom, and pine leaf patterns are on the back surface. TSUIKIN is a technique to express patterns by attaching TSUIKINMOCHI. It is a thin sheet which is the mix of lacquer and pigments, then made it into a sheet. This decorating technique of lacquerware was originated in China, spread to southeast Asia, and then took root in Okinawa.
