Lined costume in BINGATA dyeing.

Overview

This is a BINGATA-dyeing winter lined costume for boys who have not experienced their coming-of-age ceremonies yet. Gorgeous peonies and Chinese phoenixes patterns were drawn on the yellow-colored cloth which was dyed with orpiment and vegetable dyes. Costumes with Chinese phoenix patterns were worn by only royal family members including princes, princesses, KIKOEOOGIMI (the highest rank of priestess, and wives or sisters of the Kings took this position).
